Yesterday I had the great fortune of being reminded of why this is my profession. A bride walked in and told me her wedding was in four weeks, And unfortunately her dress would not be arriving from the shop where she had ordered it. She had a budget and despite her circumstances still wanted her dream dress. This is the point where I start to hope I will have something to make this very sweet girl happy. She picked out a couple of gowns and her maid-of-honor grabbed one also. The first bridal gown that she picked out ended up being “the one”. She’s a beautiful, wonderful person and I was thrilled to be there to help. That bride is the reason The Bridal Gallery is here. It was a pleasure, my pleasure , and I hope her day is fantastic!!!!

People always ask me about tradition. So is it ok to let the groom or anyone else see the gown? Well I guess thats up to you. Will it bring doom to your marriage? Here is my theory, following tradition or not following it will not take your marriage down nor will it ruin it from “I DO”. What is important, is surprising him! That amazing moment when he is standing there looking so handsome in his designer tuxedo, and you appear, and your beauty takes his breath away. You only get that moment in your relationship one time, so it is up to you. Some brides show everyone they know and some just choose not to. Tradition is just what you make it.

We will be closed on Easter to celebrate with the family. I hope the bunny hops by and gives you all a treat. My mom sent me some flowers as a centerpiece for our table from Garden Blossom florist. I must say it was a breath of Spring, and put a smile on my face.

Spring has finally sprung

That is to mean your wedding is creeping ever so closer! Time to get r done! For me it also means an onslaught of teenagers looking for the perfect prom gown. We are also in the process of ordering for fall. That is just strange. The snowflakes have not even stopped falling and I am forced to think of leaves falling. Looking ahead to the rest of your planning, remind your mom people that it does take time to order gowns. We do have them in stock, however all sizes and colors are not here all the time. We can help the moms also find dyed-to-match shoes and a purse. Both Caterina and Forever Yours have great mom selections. Suggest a color family and if at all possible go shopping with them that way mom doesn’t show up in a hot pink micro mini that screams—well it will just scream. And then so will you.

I often am asked for a place to recommend for cakes. You see most couples are swindled in to paying high prices ($800 or more) and to boot they are given bait and switch cakes. THE HORROR TO CUT INTO STYROFOAM CAKE!!!! Wedding cakes should be designed to match your wedding theme. Not pulled from a case to display at your wedding only to cut sheet cakes up for your guests. Make sure you ask if your cake will be made in advance and frozen(EWWW) or actually madea couple of days ahead. No since in eating freezer burnt cakes. I have heard the stories, and I don’t want you to suffer. I can highly recommend two people who excel in wedding cakes.

DAVE POLCARO AKA THE CAKE MAN 134 Doreen St 443-3050 Dave will only take a max of 3 cakes per weekend because they are fresh not frozen. He also hand decorates with flowers and they are beautiful. The taste is delicious.

As a bride you need to stand your ground on this one. Between finding the actual dress and actually rounding the ladies up, this may be your biggest challenge. It is your day. Just recently I watched a bride be entirely undermined by her party and she lost control, thus she did not get to have her girls wear what she wanted. She left nearly in tears. My heart broke for her. So what should we learn here? You asked these girls to be a part of the biggest day of your life. If they really respect you they will wear what you pick. If they try to take over maybe you should consider your other options for girls. From what i have seen she will not stop the complaining with the dress. Negativity need not be present while you plan your future.

On a happy silly note; Go ahead and have an outburst each day. Just start singing or dancing(Ellen does it). Be crazy! My kids think I am a looney sometimes. Live Laugh Love

Attention all blog readers! I have a slew of wedding gowns that i would like to unload at a substantial discount. I simply need to make room for more goodies. This week alone we got in 8 new wedding gowns. And if you know anyone going to a prom, i have tons of prom gowns! I register the dresses so that no one can buy the same dress even in a different color to your school.

Words of wisdom for all of you today are: Focus on achieving one small task at a time. There are so many small details to deal with. For each week make a small to-do list; 5 things tops to accomplish. This is supposed to be a happy time for you. DELEGATE tasks too. That man of yours can and will move mountains for you, and he will be so happy if you ask him to.

Bridal RE- invention

I am the MADONNA of Bridal Shops, constantly reinventing things. Color of the Bridal Gallery itself has changed a gizillion times. It started out(on North St) as pukie pink. Then we went to baby blue. Now we are going into PURPLE. We have just expanded our prom room and Clique’s studio is now larger. And PURPLE is oozing in all hues. Only worry if the sign morphs cone shaped boobies with FANTASTIC bustiers .
